Additive Manufacturing Solutions (Pty) Ltd was founded in 2010 by Bernhard Vogt. Originally Additive Manufacturing Solutions (Pty) Ltd was established as a small design consultancy firm. The idea was to provide 3D Design and CAD modelling services. Bernhard realized from the very start that in order to add value to his services, he needed to provide a 3D printing service to assist customers with early visualization and functional testing. After extensive research, Bernhard found that the solutions available locally at that time were very limited. The only technologies available were based on Fused Deposition Modelling (FDM), which was an extremely slow and low-resolution process. And the cost of these printers made it unattainable as no solution was locally available for less than R300,000. Looking internationally, he found that more affordable solutions were in fact available, offering a higher quality and speed than the locally available 3D printers. At the time 3D Systems had just launched the VFlash 3D printer which was available for $9,900, which at the time converted to less than R100,000. Additive Manufacturing Solutions (Pty) Ltd also offers Atec 3D scanners, prodiving expert support and product knowledge.
