Got a question about the new & improved Artec Studio?

  • Which types of data can I use to build a 3D model in Artec Studio?

Artec Studio now supports photo, video, and 3D scan data. That means you can create 3D models using data captured with pretty much any camera-equipped device.

Previous versions of our software required you to own a 3D scanner. Now anyone can use their smartphone to take photos or videos and then turn these into beautifully textured 3D models.

  • What can I capture using Artec 3D scanning?

With Artec Studio 20, it’s possible to turn pretty much anything you can think of into a 3D model. Capture tiny objects with submillimeter details using Artec handheld and desktop 3D scanners, scan massive structures with LiDAR, or deploy a drone to photograph entire landscapes.

There’s no limit to 3D model complexity either. Whether you need to capture dark, shiny objects, or those with fine surface features, Artec Studio has all the tools required to maximize results.

  • Which 3D scanners does Artec Studio support?

Artec Studio may now feature photogrammetry, but it remains an industry-leading professional 3D scanning software that supports structured-light, LiDAR, and target-based laser devices.

This includes the entire Artec 3D scanning range: the wireless Artec Leo, metrology-grade Spider II, versatile structured-light Eva, as well as the industrial Point, desktop Micro II, LiDAR Ray II, Metrology Kit, and a selection of previous models. More information can be found in the software’s technical specifications.

  • How does photogrammetry work in Artec Studio?

Simply take photos or capture a video of an object from all angles and upload the data to Artec Studio. Then choose object or scene reconstruction (whichever it is you’re aiming to digitize) and the software’s advanced algorithms will do the rest.

For a deeper dive into how the technology works, visit the Artec Studio Photogrammetry page.

  • What can I capture that wasn’t possible with 3D scanning?

Professional 3D scanning works brilliantly in applications like reverse engineering and inspection – where high accuracy is vital. Photogrammetry offers a less accurate alternative that still delivers highly textured, realistic-looking models.

As photogrammetry data is captured with a camera rather than a 3D scanner, the technology is occasionally more versatile. Photogrammetry images can be taken from a drone or an underwater vehicle, for instance, where it’s not possible for 3D scanners to go.

  • What are Workflows in Artec Studio?

Workflows are pipelines for creating 3D models that you can customize to meet your exact application needs. These can be triggered at the click of a button to automate common tasks and accelerate data processing by up to 70%. Users can also configure Workflows to send models to third-party software, or use scripting to process bulk datasets even faster.

Got a question about the new & improved Artec Studio?

  • Lite vs Pro: What’s the difference?

Lite is essentially a stripped back version of the same industry-leading Artec Studio software that users have come to know and love. The main difference is that Lite doesn’t include 3D scanning functionality – it only generates 3D models using photogrammetry.

Pro is the full Artec Studio package. Users can still use photogrammetry, or choose to capture higher accuracy 3D scans for more demanding use cases, and process data to create detailed meshes for reverse engineering and inspection. There are more export file types available as well, and annual subscribers can access advanced automation features like scripting.

  • Can I upgrade my Lite license to the Pro version?

Sure! If you’d like to unlock the 3D scan functionality and a broader feature set, feel free to contact our sales team at sales@artec3d.com. We’ll get you upgraded in no time at all.

  • Do you offer a free trial?

We offer a trial version of Artec Studio Pro. This includes full access to 3D scanning and photogrammetry, but there’s no export functionality and it’s limited to a 30-day period.

  • What’s the difference between AS Lite Individual & Business?

In accordance with the rights and obligations listed under Artec Studio Lite’s End User License Agreement (EULA), users agree to download the correct license for their needs. The EULA agreement outlines which projects and applications are covered under each version. Artec Studio Lite Individual is strictly for personal, non-commercial usage. Artec Studio Lite Business is the correct license to use for paid/commercial projects.

Users are kindly reminded that violation of this EULA agreement by signatories may carry legal implications under applicable law.

  • Which payment methods do you accept?

You can either pay directly on our website via credit card. If you want to pay by invoice, get in touch with us at sales@artec3d.com.

  • Do you offer discounts?

Users who buy annual Artec Studio Lite Individual or Business licenses get 12 months for the price of 10.

Those acquiring five-year subscriptions to Artec Studio Lite Individual or Business or seeking multiple licenses should contact us directly at sales@artec3d.com to discuss pricing.
