Artec Remote mobile app update: more professional editing tools in your pocket

At Artec 3D, we are committed to pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in 3D scanning. One of the tools to ensure seamless workflows in both the field and the office is Artec Remote, our robust mobile application, designed to provide complete wireless control over your Artec Ray II scanner. Today, we are excited to announce a major update to Artec Remote that brings upgraded data manipulation tools directly to your iOS and Android devices.
Precision control: the new Transformation Tool
When working on complex projects, especially those captured without the Visual Inertial System (VIS), navigating your data mid-process can be a challenge.
Our new Transformation Tool addresses it by enabling users to manually move and rotate their scans within the app interface. Whether you need to fix a quick orientation issue or simply want to view your data from a specific angle for better inspection, you now have the power to orient your captures exactly how you want to see them, right on your device.
Seamless connections with Manual Alignment
Manual Alignment allows you to select two separate scans and run the alignment algorithm directly within the Artec Remote app.
“For the best results, we recommend using the Transformation Tool to nudge your scans closer together first,” said Dmitry Ordenov, Mobile Development Team Leader. “Once they are roughly in the right neighborhood, hit the alignment button for a pixel-perfect connection. It’s effectively like having a “mini-Artec Studio” in your pocket, ensuring your data is clean and organized before you even head back to your workstation.”
Visibility in any environment: Brightness Control
Lighting should never be the bottleneck of your workflow. Whether you are scanning in a dimly lit industrial basement or under the harsh glare of the sun, visibility is key to a successful capture. With a dedicated Brightness Slider in Panorama mode, you can manually adjust photo brightness during the review process. Fine-tune your view to ensure you have total clarity while reviewing your captures — no need for costly rescans due to poor visibility.
Project Navigation just got faster
Optimized for speed, Project Navigation is quicker and more fluid than ever. Whether you are scrolling through a massive list of history scans or diving into the sub-folders of a complex new project, the interface remains snappy and responsive. “With every release, we aim to address anything that might slow users down,” added Ordenov. “In particular, we’re working to make complex projects in the app quicker and easier to open.”
