Shells can be surprisingly difficult to scan. Their surfaces alternate between rough, matte ridges and smooth, glossy interiors, making it challenging for standard scanners to capture every detail accurately. This murex shell is even more complex, with a deep, curling opening and delicate, spiky edges that require exceptional care.
AI Photogrammetry in Artec Studio captured it with ease, preserving every frilled edge and textured spiral without losing the intricate geometry that makes this shell unique. It also reproduced the subtle color gradient inside the opening, from a warm peach glow fading into shadow, along with the mottled browns and creams of the outer shell.
