Artec Studio

Found in cities like Belgrade and Zagreb across former Yugoslavia, this statue of a man wrestling a snake has been attributed many meanings. Is it about wrestling with the power of nature, the temptation of evil, or a symbol of wisdom or healing? We’ll let you decide!

As you can see from the 3D model itself, Artec Studio photogrammetry has captured the spirit of the sculpture brilliantly. Rotate upwards and you’ll see how this huge life-sized statue has been digitized in full, including the snake’s open mouth – you can practically hear it hissing in pain!

Zooming in gives you an even closer look at the snake’s curved tail, the missing chunks of rock, and the intricate netting captured inside the model. You can even see many telltale signs of ageing, making it a true representation of an Eastern European cultural landmark.
